They are more affordable than purcashing from a breeder.
You get a feel good feeling for saving a life. (yes, adopting pets saves lives)
Adopted pets are usually house broken. (no potty training… big plus)
Most animals from shelters or animal rescue groups are already spayed or neutered so it helps combat over population. There are simply not enough homes as it is for our friendly friends.
